If March was all about the Nyepi celebrations when the whole island shuts down for a day, April sees quite the opposite with plenty of gaiety and excitement for the Galungan and Kuningan festivals. After Nyepi, these are the two biggest celebrations for the Balinese with preparations and ceremonies taking place weeks in advance. If you are in Bali during this time, then you’re in for a treat as you will get to witness some of the most captivating Balinese cultural processions and ceremonies. It’s also fascinating to know that the Galungan marks the victory of good versus evil, and also the time when the ancestral spirits come down to visit Earth. Celebrations continue for a 10-day period until Kuningan day, which marks the day the ancestral spirits return to heaven. For more information on Galungan and Kuningan, do check out our Don’t Miss page for a better understanding on each unique day celebrated within this 10-day festival period. Also this month, we’re quite excited (more than usual!) on what we have for you in our What’s New section – a new café in Petitenget, new features at a world-renowned restaurant in Ubud, new openings, new menus and more. Meanwhile, Hot Deals brings you all the latest and most exciting deals that you can get during this month. What with Good Friday and Easter coming, there are some good deals to be found here! Party goers, don’t forget to pencil in the island’s latest and most happening parties via our Party Agenda pages, featuring 7 of the most awaited events that will take place here this month. Bali Best Awards gives you the latest award winners and our reviews as usual are personal recommendations, tried and tested so you can be sure you’ll be expecting nothing but stellar experiences at Peppers Seminyak, Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak, Royal Tulip Saranam in Bedugul and Siesta Legian. Those looking for an exciting day out with the family, Bali Adventure Tours invites you to tame the river Ayung’s raging rapids, go on an adventure on the backs of elephants and cycle across Bali’s untamed countryside. When all is said and done, nothing fills you up better than a meal at Bali’s favourite Chinese restaurant, Happy Chappy Chinese. Don’t miss their Dim Sum Sundays, with 2 for 1 Bloody Mary deals!
